Garden Project

The Leamy Foundation Garden Project aims to be a positive resource for the wider community and  takes place in the grounds of St Mungo’s Church, Alexandria on Fridays from lunchtime until 4.30pm.

The project is open to anyone who would like to learn more about growing food. Do come along and benefit from a few hours closer to nature!

Through the growing of vegetables, herbs and flowers in a number of raised beds and tubs in the church grounds, the project will increase climate change and carbon reduction awareness. The projects’ workshops, often held elsewhere, will demonstrate how people can further reduce their carbon footprint by choosing locally produced food, reducing food waste and improving budgeting and cooking skills.

Work has already begun with the local Guides and Brownies. The girls have had great fun planting strawberries, wild flowers and brussel sprouts, accompanied by their leader Ruth, while learning about climate change and how they can reduce their carbon footprint. Their efforts are already showing results and, with all the rain we have been having, the beds are getting full with a profusion of plants. We look forward to their harvest!
